Founding of the Rotary Club of Falls Church

      

 

In January 1952 Adrian M. Newens began a store to store and office to office canvas for prospective members for a Rotary Club in Falls Church, Virginia.  Adrian had been a member of the classification committee appointed by President W. McCullum of the Arlington Rotary Club under he Chairmanship of De Reel P. Tiller and nine other Rotarians of the Arlington Club living in the vicinity of Falls Church.

 From March to June, periodic meetings were held each month to determine the intereste and the feasability in forming a Falls Church Rotary Club.  By June 12, 1952, the necessary 20 members were enrolled as charter members.

The Club bulletin was started in February 1953 by an "Anonymous Joe" who later revealed himself as Adrian Newens, the "Daddy" of the Falls Church Rotary Club.  Adrian had resigned from the Arlington Club and was one of our seven new members.  The Falls Church Rotary Times has been in continuous publication from February 19, 1953.
